Coaches Code of Conduct
Expectations and Rules for Our Coaches:
Our aim is to develop young men with sound values, competitive spirit, great work ethic and fundamental baseball skills. Coaches will, at all times, have the safety and general well-being of the players in mind. Our coaches will treat the players with respect, deliver constructive criticism, and provide motivation throughout the season.
- All coaches report directly to the LMYB Board. You are NOT an "independent" team. You represent the Linn-Mar School name and the families that we serve.
- All coaches are asked to utilize the talents and abilities of everyone associated with their team; this includes parents, board members, and other coaches outside the LMYB organization.
- All coaches are expected to aid other LMYB teams and assist with all LMYB functions including, but not limited to: evaluations, clinics and LMYB specific events/tournaments.
- Coaches are responsible for communication to parents on team expectations and player performance throughout the season. Coaches are expected to establish a parent meeting at the beginning of each season.
- Coaches are responsible for team finances.
- Coaches will respect umpires, opposing coaches, players and fans.
- Coaches are not permitted to use alcohol or tobacco during any games or practices.
- Coaches will only roster players eligible to play for Linn-Mar Youth Baseball.
- Coaches will not tamper, recruit, participate in breaking up teams or attempt to lure players away from the LMYB organization. This is enforced in both the LMYB and PST USSSA League Code of Conduct. Please note that movement from one team to another within LMYB may occur throughout a season.
- Coaches are responsible for each other, your players, and (the actions of) your families.
Enforcement of Rules:
The rules and expectations listed herein are in place to ensure the quality development of our teams while maintaining the integrity of our organization. Any coaches in violation of these rules will be handled in the following manner:
- A formal written warning will be issued and documented
- A suspension from attending games or tournaments. The suspension can be one game up to a max of four
- Possible expulsion from the LMYB Organization & PST League
The LMYB organization has the right to bypass the above process and administer any such disciplinary action depending upon the severity of the violation.
