SafeSport
Linn-Mar Youth Baseball uses the U.S. Center for SafeSport and its online courses to help educate LMYB coaches and administrators on abuse prevention.
All LMYB Head-Coaches and Advisory Board members are required to have up-to-date SafeSport certification throughout the baseball season.
What is SafeSport?
Abuse prevention education can help change sport culture. It empowers athletes, coaches, and others in the sport community to recognize, prevent, and respond to abuse. SafeSport online courses will help get the information and practical skills required to create a safe, supportive sport environment. The U.S. Center for SafeSport is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) committed to building a sport community where participants can work and learn together free of emotional, physical and sexual abuse and misconduct.
Requirements for LMYB Coaches and Administrators
SafeSport training is valid for 12-months.
All LMYB Head Coaches and Advisory Board members must complete SafeSport training on an annual basis. The following courses are available to complete the SafeSport requirement:
- SafeSport Trained Core: 90-minute base course for those that have not taken a SafeSport core course in the past 3-years
- SafeSport Refresher: 30-minute refresher course that can be use to maintain active certification in-between core training
LMYB will provide keys to all Head Coaches and Advisory Board members in the January timeframe.

(ensure an account has been created, log in, and click on "Enrollment Key" to enter your valid key)
If you have completed SafeSport (or equivalent training) as part of another sport or profession (i.e. teacher, school administrator, etc.) - you may use that certification as part of the LMYB requirement.
What to do after Training is Complete?
After training is complete, please download the completion certification and upload it to the LMYB Crossbar system. You can upload the latest SafeSport certificate (or equivalent from another sport or profession) under your "Accounts" (upper left corner) within Crossbar.
Not a Head-Coach or Advisory Board Member?
LMYB Crossbar application will request upload of a SafeSport certificate for all volunteers (assistant coaches as well). While assistant coaches may take the SafeSport training and upload a valid completion certificate, it is not required.
